About Sorrento, Louisiana

Hi, I’m Angela!

I’m the creator behind Sew and Sheaux (pronounced “show”), a mom, Nonna, friend, Air Force veteran, RN, and lifelong sewing enthusiast.

My journey

How I got here

I first learned to sew in eighth grade home economics. Years later, I owned a sewing and embroidery business for about 14 years. I closed it when I moved to Louisiana in 2021, but I never stopped creating. Once I began sewing mainly for fun, my creative side took off! These days I’m trying a little bit of everything: bags, clothing, quilting, and whatever else sparks my curiosity.

One day, I started recording my projects and sharing them on social media. I found my people, and here we are! Sew and Sheaux has become a place to share what I’m making, learn along the way, and celebrate the joy of creating together. Every video starts here: the cutting table, the machines, the thread wall, and more fabric than I’ll admit to.

The Plant Palace

Mark built this special space for me to keep all of my beautiful plants, and it’s become one of my favorite places to slow down and enjoy them. Between the peaceful sound of the water feature, all of the greenery, flowers and the little frog hotel, there’s always something here that makes me smile. It’s a place to care for my plants, take a breath, and find a little inspiration.

Gulf Coast roots

My heart will always be on the Gulf Coast.

I grew up in Biloxi, Mississippi, and spent most of my adult life in Ocean Springs. At home, I share life with Mark, the man behind all the plans, and our two pups, Groucheaux and Harlie. I’m also a proud mom to my son Cory, who serves in the Navy, a mother-in-law to his wife Jennifer, and Nonna to our wonderful grandchildren, Rhett and Harper.

I’ve worked as an RN since 2004, but the road here has been anything but ordinary. I’ve been a morning radio co-host, casino cocktail waitress, salesperson, IT help desk worker, and bar and restaurant manager, among other things. Every chapter has given me a story to tell!

I’ve always heard that doing what you love makes work feel less like work. I love sewing, entertaining, and bringing people together. Sew and Sheaux lets me do all three, and I’m so glad you’re here to be part of it.
